Your intent as a Coach is more important than the Content
Sometimes, the challenges people face at home are the real reason behind their struggles as leaders. Personal and professional lives are always connected, and as coaches, we need to approach leadership transformation with empathyโit is essential.
In my recent case of coaching a C-Level executive, I had to face issues when it came to boundaries and how they tend to blur at times.
As a transformational coach, you have to get to the heart of the problem without your emotional biases coming in between. We have to look beyond the surface, break down barriers, and create space for transformation, all while maintaining boundaries.
That is why it is so important to identify three clear priorities to work on, even if the person says otherwise. These priorities can be the key to helping them become a better leader, gain the trust of their team, and truly grow.
What is happening internallyโat home, in relationships, in their own mindsโalways finds its way into their work, even if they do not realize it. As transformational coaches, it is our job to recognize these patterns, break through them, and guide the process of real change.
At the end of the day, your intent as a coach is more important than the content, that is why instead of a trainer, a consultant or a counsellor think of yourself as a healer.
